Cynthia Freeland is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Houston, Texas. His new book, Portraits and shows pictures of people who have served two important functions during the centuries. First, to preserve the identity, which brings us closer to our loved ones who are absent or are costly. And secondly, tell us something about the person to be represented: not only outside but also the emotions and the internal state of the subject.
