It is 99.93% of all businesses in America. Why so broad a definition? So politicians, giant banks, and even the SBA can continue to claim they are focused on helping small businesses while totally focused on larger companies with more political donor power. This includes 28 million out of 28.1 million businesses in the U.S. in 2009 Australia passed the Fair Trade Act defining small business as less than 15 employees.Apparently it’s not impossible, but it is definitely inconvenient for those like the SBA, big banks and big government who regularly trot out companies of 50-500 employees and claim they are helping “small” business. The media needs to stop allowing the SBA, politicians and banks to simply feed them unproven claims of small business support without requiring that they first define the size of companies they see as “small”. Until the SBA embraces a reasonable definition of “small”, all claims that they help small businesses simply cannot be believed. The SBA defines “small” as “less than 500 employees”. (only 18,000 do not qualify), a constituency so broad as to be meaningless. The European Union has universally defined it at 50, and “Micro” businesses at 10. Until we have full disclosure on what size companies actually got the help, these claims should fall on deaf ears.Big is not small and the SBA has a responsibility to stop making claims without a meaningful definition. The SBA’s Size Standards white paper says it is “utterly impossible” to define the size of small business, then they go ahead and do it at 500 employees. It’s no different than defining all people under seven feet tall as “short”.

The democrats re the ones who have made it hard on small business and the SBA is a Joke we tried to get a loan their rate was higher than if we used our credit cards. Thats a big help. They offered NOTHING to the entrepreneur even with great credit and personal assets. We were told that they would give us $3000 at #12.85% interest.

The reason that more jobs aren’t being created: small businesses are being economically stangled. Fact: SMALL businesses of 500 employees or less lost 80 of the 100 jobs lost since Obama was elected. See the dept last 4 years of facts, not the hype. SBA in this biased interview says “Small” BUSiness owners account for 2 of 3 jobs created. JUST THE FACTS MAAM. SBA has consistently failed since a Liberal Congress added new tax legislation, and new rules designed to reward foreign investors & high risk owners owners while race & gender slanted toward non-whites.

They treat us as if we are totally stupid as well as blind. If their figures are right I have only worked for ONE ‘big business’ that employed more than 500 people. If you don’t have the secret ‘requisite number’ it’s ‘go F*** yourself, you’re already a loser’. It’s STILL considered ‘Small Business’ so don’t even bother to apply for a laon if you don’t employ up to 500 people. Yes and 99% of the money went to the ‘SMALL BUSINESSES’ that hire 500 people. Its all a farce and just another way to get money to the already wealthy. THAT’S SMALL BUSINESS’ as far as Washington is concerned. Every time he tours a ’small business’ its easy to see its really not a ’small business’ at all but a well established enterprise and they are the one’s benefiting from the SBA. Obama is no different.

It’s him again,’ and trudge away?” Well if he’s not going to take this seriously . We thought it was time to give them a rest.” Clearly keen to get something off his chest, he adds: “There’s a problem with the Daleks. They are the most famous of the Doctor’s adversaries and the most frequent. They have been defeated by the Doctor about 400 times. * Less than two years into the job, Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat is getting increasingly disillusioned with the Time Lord’s deadliest enemies. Which means they are the most defeatable enemies in the universe. Surely they should just see the Tardis approaching, say, ‘Oh. When asked about his plans for the Daleks, he gleefully announces in the Radio Times: “Actually, they aren’t going to make an appearance for a while.

That has more punch than any other kind of erotica. These are stories written by amateurs, mostly women, about characters from pop culture, movies, books, etc. The most popular erotica for women is the romance novel. Women prefer stories to visual porn by a long shot. This is something that has really exploded on the Internet. The second most popular would be fan fiction.

Dragon Quest never found quite the same popularity in North America as it did in Japan; the first game tanked badly enough that Nintendo resorted to giving away excess stock to sell Nintendo Power subscriptions. All four 8-bit entries did eventually make it to North America though, and it has gained a loyal following over the years.

Still, while it’s hard to go back to, it’s hard to imagine console RPGs without Dragon Quest. Of course, as the first stab at a paradigm shift, Chunsoft didn’t get everything right. Unclear goals paired with vague NPCs made navigating through the game somewhat difficult, and the dungeon-to-town ratio is distressingly low. To compound matters, we didn’t even get the game until three years after it came out in Japan, making it feel dated even to early adopters.

A number of journalists — both from traditional media and “citizen journalists” — have also used the real-time information network to report from conflict zones such as Libya and disaster areas such as Haiti. Updated: Anyone who has been following the protests and revolutions in the Middle East for the past few months has probably heard of Andy Carvin, the NPR editor who has been using Twitter to curate news from the region. Now those who see Twitter as a powerful tool for real-time journalism have another example of how it can be done: reporter Brian Stelter has posted a thoughtful and compelling account of how he used Twitter to report on the aftermath of the recent tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

And it’s also interesting to me that Stelter didn’t just post his thoughts and observations about the disaster on Twitter (which he has since archived here), but he also posted updates and photos to his Tumblr blog, and through the mobile image-sharing service Instagram, which is where I first saw them. This is an incredible admission for a reporter to make in some ways, but even more evidence of how the media business and the process of journalism are being disrupted by these new tools.

Although I have been critical of the Times in the past for their persistent lack of links and what I think is the defensive move of launching a paywall, there are encouraging signs that the paper is becoming more open to the social web: It has begun experimenting with Tumblr, among other things, and has also moved to turn its Twitter feed into a human-curated stream instead of just a robotic posting system. Perhaps Stelter’s example will encourage the NYT to experiment even more with these kinds of tools — and then the Times in turn could encourage other media outlets to do so.
